You Got Rivers?

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.””

John 7:38 NKJV

What does Jesus mean when He mentions rivers of living waters? He means the presence and fullness of The Holy Spirit.

“He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water. But He was speaking here of the Spirit, Whom those who believed (trusted, had faith) in Him were afterward to receive. For the [Holy] Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor).”

John 7:38-39 AMPC

What must I do to get rivers?

1. Believe and receive The Holy Spirit.

“So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

John 20:21-22 NKJV

2. Be filled with The Holy Spirit.

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Acts 2:1-4 NKJV

Once I have those rivers, what will my life look like? What are the characteristics of rivers of living waters?

1. River of Power and Witness

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””

Acts 1:8 NKJV

2. River of Love

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

Galatians 6:10 NKJV

3. River of Obedience

““If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

John 14:15 NKJV

4. River of Life

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

John 10:10 NKJV

“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

Ephesians 4:29 NKJV

My rivers deliver the mister, His name

Is Jesus, my thesis is pleasing my King

Give witness, give power, give love to the game

And life speaks with boldness, embolden the light

And invade the darkness, and win some, to spark it

The movement, revival, disciples, The Bible

Is in me, I can’t help but worship my God

His Spirit within me to break the facades

Embrace thee my Savior for savory flows

My bravery’s only your Grace in my soul

It’s all for you, all in you, all for your glory

Our story’s your purpose, My Lord, we adore thee
