““Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel (the Northern Kingdom) and with the house of Judah (the Southern Kingdom), not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” says the Lord. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the Lord, “I will put My law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” Jeremiah 31:31-33 AMP
God has embroidered His law, His will, His ways, and His love, on the hearts of those who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Our obedience then, initiates from our hearts as we fall in love with Him. We work on the outside what starts on the inside, rather than trying to keep what we can only attempt to externally grasp. As Christian’s, we are no longer trying to grasp, we are living out supernaturally naturally what He has made possible through what Jesus did at the cross.
“For by the one offering He has perfected forever and completely cleansed those who are being sanctified [bringing each believer to spiritual completion and maturity]. And the Holy Spirit also adds His testimony to us [in confirmation of this]; for after having said, “This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, says the Lord: I will imprint My laws upon their heart, And on their mind I will inscribe them [producing an inward change],” He then says,” Hebrews 10:14-16 AMP
Here are several characteristics of this New Covenant in which we have been embroidered by God:
1. It is where love begins.
“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:5-8 NKJV
2. It is victory by grace not failure by legalism.
“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,” Jude 1:24 NKJV
If we are to see the victory over sin in our lives, we must realize that it is the victory that He has already won, not the victory we are trying to obtain. The grace of God in us is the power of God to live righteously from righteousness. There are none righteous outside of Christ, but in Christ, we can live out His righteousness by grace, His power in us.
3. We are embroidered to be emboldened.
“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.” Romans 8:11 AMP
“But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”” Acts 1:8 AMP
