REST

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Matthew 11:28-29 NKJV

Rest in the Greek is the word: anapauō

Part of Speech:

Verb

Thayer Lexicon:

1. to cause or permit one to cease from any movement or labour in order to recover and collect his strength

2. to give rest, refresh, to give one's self rest, take rest

3. to keep quiet, of calm and patient expectation

If we’re going to truly know the promises of God in our lives, after all of our getting of understanding and revelation, we are going to have to rest in the finished work of the cross. True believing is born out of the teaching of The Holy Spirit of The Word of God, which is revelation, and when we have received it, we must rest. The getting is gotten through the study of The Word and the resting is merely believing it and receiving it by faith. Therefore, there is a work in faith and a work that strives no more but rests. Child of God…it may be time for you to rest.

1. Understand that we’re not striving for it, we’re already alive in it.

“that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”

Philemon 1:6 NKJV

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,”

Ephesians 1:3 NKJV

“and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”

Ephesians 2:6 NKJV

You can’t tap into what you don’t already have, but what you have, you tap into. Many Christians don’t know they have it so they are begging for it. Rest.

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”

Matthew 6:10 NKJV

We can have in the natural what we have in the spirit if we can believe and speak on earth as it is in Heaven.

2. Since we know we’re alive in it, we do not settle for less.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

Anxious in the Greek is the word: merimnao

Part of Speech:

Verb

Thayer Lexicon:

1. to be anxious

a. to be troubled with cares

2. to care for, look out for (a thing)

a. to seek to promote one's interests

b. caring or providing for

Strong’s Definitions:

to be anxious about: care (ful), take thought.

Rest in the Greek is a verb, and anxious in the Greek is a verb. Which action will you take? Faith in action or fear in action?

Child of God: Don't settle for worry and fear and anxiety when Jesus has given us rest. Peace will guard you when you don't allow fear to rule you. By The Spirit of Power, Love and a Sound Mind, in the authority of the name of Jesus...rest.

On Earth as it is in Heaven.

3. In His rest, we are happy and blessed when we are pressed.

“If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.”

I Peter 4:14 NKJV

“If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.”

1 Peter 4:14 KJV

The Spirit of Glory rests on us when we are persecuted for His name sake, God is glorified, and therefore we can rest. In His rest, we are happy and blessed when we are pressed.

4. The same rest now and forever.

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”

Revelation 14:13 KJV

God promises that the rest that we have now in Jesus is the rest that we will have in Heaven. The rest in Heaven will be a permanent eternal rest where we will rest from all of our labors, but this eternity of rest begins in Jesus when we are born again in Him. Only in Jesus is there a rest that never ends.

Go Boldly,
